Spilled Oil Sludge Treatment

The difficulty with oilfield spilled oil sludge is the high dispersion of the oil and the wide particle-size span of the solids. Ruituxiang uses an "environmental chemicals + centrifuge (hot-wash)" process: the chemicals complete demulsification and separation, hot-wash + centrifuge brings dewatering to compliance, oil content of the solids <2%, the separated oil is recovered, and the wastewater is discharged to standard.

Application Challenges

Why spilled oil sludge is hard to treat

Challenge 1

Highly dispersed oil

The oil phase is dispersed in the sludge in adsorbed and emulsified states. Without breaking the "oil–water–solid" interface, settling or filtration alone cannot remove the oil cleanly.

Challenge 2

Wide particle-size span

The applicable particle-size range is 2–100 mesh, from coarse sand to fine powder. A single mechanical method cannot cover both; chemical conditioning is needed first to change the particle surface properties.

Process Flow

Chemicals + centrifuge (hot-wash) process, a four-step closed loop

From feed analysis to compliance verification, the process package is delivered together with the chemicals.

  1. Feed analysisSampling measures oil content, water content and particle-size distribution to determine the process route.
  2. Chemical packageC50N3 for main separation, PL15 for front-end viscosity reduction, PAM/PAC for final clarification.
  3. Hot-wash + centrifugeHeating and agitation fully separate oil and water; the centrifuge completes solid-liquid separation.
  4. Compliance verificationOil content of the solids <2%; the separated oil is recovered and the wastewater discharged to standard.

Boundary note: "Oil content of the solids <2%" is a measured result under specific working conditions; the acceptance basis follows the client's acceptance and disposal requirements. Feed with different oil content, water content or particle-size distribution gives different results — run a bench test first.
