C50N3 Sludge Separation Agent

For conditioning and separation of spilled oilfield sludge, tank-bottom sludge, OBM cuttings and refinery oily sludge. The oil phase is recovered, the solids are brought below 2%.

In long-term use at production bases across China

C50N3 has completed multiple deliveries to oil & gas production bases across China. Supplier qualification and batch-by-batch retesting are part of ongoing supply.

  • In continuous use at multiple oil & gas production bases; supplier qualification and batch-by-batch retesting are real
  • Process-parameter recommendations are provided with each delivery; application makes a big difference to results
  • Bulk supply and large export orders completed; full export documentation in place
  • Full export documentation available; products exported to multiple countries and regions
Mechanism

Three key stages of oil–solids separation

C50N3 acts on the oil–water–solids interface. The chemical does not change the composition of the sludge — only where the oil is.

STEP 1

Wetting and demulsification

The agent adsorbs onto the solid surface, changes the particles' wettability and breaks the interfacial film around the oil phase, stripping adsorbed oil and emulsified oil off the sand and clay surfaces.

STEP 2

Hot-wash separation

With hot water (recommended above 60 °C) and mechanical agitation, the desorbed oil floats up and coalesces while the water phase carries the fines, completing a primary phase split dominated by solids–liquid separation.

STEP 3

Centrifugal dewatering

The separated slurry goes to the centrifuge; the solids (oil content <2%) are discharged, the oil phase is recovered, and the oily water enters the PAM + PAC coagulation-flocculation stage for clarification and reuse.

Boundary note: "Oil content of the solids <2%" is a measured result under specific working conditions. Materials with different oil content, water content or particle-size distribution give different results, so run a bench test first.
How to Use

From sample to batch, four steps

The dosing ratio is determined by the material's properties and must be based on bench-test results. Below is the typical procedure and reference ranges.

  1. Sample submission and bench testSend a sludge sample (about 1 kg) together with the treatment volume and target indicators. We complete chemical selection, compatibility testing and determination of the dosing ratio, and issue a bench-test report.
  2. Confirm formulation and dosageSet the C50N3 dosing concentration and wash-water temperature based on oil content, water content and particle-size distribution; for high-viscosity or high-wax materials, pairing with the PL15 viscosity reducer is recommended.
  3. On-site process alignmentWe provide recommendations for dosing points, agitation intensity, hot-wash temperature and centrifuge parameters. During batch treatment we stay on site for commissioning until the indicators are stable.
  4. Batch supply and follow-upRetention samples kept per batch after dispatch for tracking, and process technical support for abnormal working conditions.

Applicable materials

Spilled oilfield sludge, tank-bottom sludge, OBM cuttings, refinery oily sludge and gathering-station tank-cleaning sludge; particle size 2–100 mesh.

Companion chemicals in the process chain

FAQ

About C50N3

Does "oil content of the solids <2%" hold for every material?
No. It is a measured result under specific working conditions at several a major Chinese oil & gas group bases. Different oil content, water content, particle-size distribution or oil properties all give different results. A bench test with the actual material is recommended as the basis for these figures.
How long does the normal sample testing process take?
After we receive the sludge sample we run the bench test and compatibility work; the results and dosage recommendation normally come in 3–5 working days. For urgent projects, contact us first so the schedule can be compressed.
Can we buy only the chemicals and do the treatment ourselves?
Yes. Selling environmental chemicals is our main business, and process-parameter recommendations and on-site guidance come with every order. Integrated technical services (process packages, operation) can be discussed separately.
What documents come with export orders?
MSDS in Chinese and English, COA and full export documentation. Products have been exported to more than 10 countries and regions including the Middle East and Central Asia; the export process is well established.

Is C50N3 suitable for your material?

Provide the sludge type, oil content and treatment volume, and we will give a selection assessment and target indices based on 19 years of field experience.
